The Abstract Matters rug range is inspired by the artworks collected by Hilla Rebay and Solomon R. Guggenheim in the early twentieth century, and later by his niece, Peggy Guggenheim.
Among the Guggenheim's modern holdings are works by European masters such as Kandinsky, Klee and Chagall, and American icons such as Jackson Pollock and Alexander Calder. Considered masterpieces today, the works reflect an abstract, non-objective approach to painting and sculpture. This collection of hand-tufted rugs employs the same ethos that inspired these modern artists.
The Abstract Matters collection is the result of a unique relationship between The Guggenheim Museum, New York, loophouse and Designtex.
Rugs are individually handmade to order using 100% New Zealand wool, and are non-returnable.
