Eero Saarinen explained the inspiration behind his pedestal collection: “The underside of typical chairs and tables makes a confusing, unrestful world. I wanted to clear up the slum of legs." The result is a streamlined organic form of home accent furniture called the Tulip Chair which was released in 1956. Widely hailed as a functional work of art, the chair consists of a contoured flowing seat and back resting on a tapered base. Despite its graceful lines, the molded ABS construction on a cast aluminum swivel base makes for a stable and durable piece. This modern interior décor reproduction is crafted in white with a red cushion.
